Carl returns to America with Ehsan Abbasi. He expects to have issues with the Department of Homeland Security. But he doesn’t expect to see part of his past exposed. It’s an exposure that doesn’t just affect him. How will his family respond when the news leaves them… Union Jacked?!
Post Comic Notes:
The
branches and specialties of the United Kingdom Armed Forces were chosen to
build a path leading to the final results of a joint US-UK mission to North
Korea, already revealed in the comic. Royal Marine Commando and SBS training
would have provided Carl with the skills needed to carry out his Black-Ops
missions.
Thea’s (justified, in my view) contempt for the UK’s barbaric euthanasia policy should not be viewed as an attack on the UK Armed Forces.
Nor is the comic meant to imply that it was “easy” to be a member. Successfully completing training for the Royal Marine Commandos and the SBS strikes me as particularly difficult, and trying to find an “equivalent” counterpart in the US Armed Forces seems to be comparing Apples to Oranges. The training styles are radically different.
Of course, as Carl told Paula, there is more to his story.
The image on the front cover is the emblem of the Royal Marine Commandos.
AI Disclaimer
I discontinued using AI for covers and background
scenery after Issue 277. I still use it to create logos, doodles, and symbols,
simply because there are no non-AI logo-creation programs (suggestions are
welcome). Some previously used images have been kept for consistency (iconic
buildings and “historic photographs”) with the intent of replacing them when
possible. Any other appearance of AI means the art seller I purchased from
misrepresented their product.
