It’s Iimi! The Best Laid Plans…

The proponents of abortion use “choice” as the mantra to paper over all the injustices and abuses in the system. But a system that sees abortion as a “right” often ignores the rights of those who don’t want to participate in that “choice.” The “Pro-Choice politicians are really more pro-life” Catholics also ignore or downplay the evils done to women.

Yes, what Paula went through is technically illegal. In theory, one can’t force a minor to have an abortion. But there seems to be precious few protections for the minor who is pressured (duress) into going along with it and is unable to come forward. Consider, for example, how the State of California prosecuted those exposing the behavior at one such clinic. Consider how clinics don’t get involved in reporting incidents with minors. Consider how they take part in assisting human traffickers.

It’s Iimi! The Bonds of Family

When life-changing news appears, how one deals with it often depends on the support and family bonds that have been previously laid down. The Iscra family deal with the possibility of adding another child to their family, while Paula feels hope that there are more options than just the “choice” that she hitherto thought was the only one.

One thing that those who say “you’re merely anti-abortion, but not pro-life” should remember: Many pro-life families are not in the situation where the Iscra family is. Whether through having a large family already or not having the financial wherewithal to adopt or help the mother, many who want to help are limited in how they can help. Nor can we reduce being “really” pro-life to how we vote for government programs.

But we should try to help the mother and the unborn child in the ways that are available to us.

It’s Iimi! My “Friend” Has A Problem…

Paula makes a discovery she was in denial over and comes to Iimi for help… but Iimi isn’t home. Can Thea help Paula’s “friend” by showing love and support while sharing her own past?

This is a multipart story that I outlined in the earliest days of owning the Comipo software. But it took until I logged 700+ hours onto the software before I felt comfortable trying to create it.

Post-Comic Commentary: Yes, I know that at two months, Paula shouldn’t be showing yet. But using manga format sometimes requires exaggerated images to get a point across.

It’s Iimi! Lone Wolf and Bug: Handcart at the Gates of Heck

All Iimi wanted to do was take a nap before youth group. But Chela wanted to wrestle. That resulted in both of them being sent on an errand. She’s not sure what’s worse: a hyperactive little sister or the third degree her friends give her along the way.

This was an experiment with telling a story with apologetics in it, instead of making the apologetics itself the story.

Post-Comic notes: The title and the cover is a parody of the manga and live action movies, Lone Wolf and Cub. (I don’t particularly recommend them to the Catholic reader as they tend to be excessive in the violence, sex and nudity categories and would probably get an O rating from the USCCB.
The main character is Ogami Ito... hence the parody Oga-Iimi-to.

It’s Iimi! Conflicted!

Kismetta has more questions about what Christians believe. Iimi points out that Christians don’t believe what Muslims think they do. That’s a problem for Kismetta, because these wrong claims about Christian beliefs are found in the Quran itself.

It helps to first read the first two comics on this topic:

It’s Iimi! Is the Pope Committing “Mass” Murder?

What are we to make of the claims that Pope Francis is eliminating the Missal of 1962 as reported by fans of the Extraordinary Rite and the media?

Iimi and Daryl discuss the recent Motu Proprio, Traditionis Custodes and why Pope Francis saw the need to give the bishops the authority and responsibility for those who want to use the Extraordinary Form. Mrs. Garza, one of the parish senior citizens, speaks about the myth of a golden age in the Church .

[To Clarify (thanks to a reader's question), "overrode" does not mean "invalidate." Of course, the Extraordinary Form is valid. Iimi uses it in the sense of "to have precedence or superiority over" (SOED). My apologies for those who found the equivocal nature of the word misleading.]
