It's Iimi! Hold the Line!

It’s Nila and Salah’s wedding day, and everyone from the Mosque is there… except Najiyah, who suspects her presence would be awkward. Hanging out with Lilavati at the park, they run into Iimi, who’s also out of place. She says she’s trying to plan for the future of the Socratic Club. When the other girls think she shouldn’t bother because it won’t matter after they graduate, Iimi has to explain why she feels she must… Hold the Line!

Post-Comic Notes:

We didn’t see the wedding of Nila and Salah partly because most of the main characters would feel out of place, even though the Muslims would have shown hospitality. The other part was I didn’t feel I could accurately portray a Muslim wedding in the comic. The closest I’ve seen to one was the walima shown in an episode of Ms. Marvel. I’d rather avoid doing something like the infamous “synagogue” in the Osamu Tezuka series, Adolf, where he portrayed the synagogue as looking like a Christian church and the Jews praying like Christians do.
