It’s Iimi! Renounce All to Gain Everything

The girls get a bit of freedom to travel unescorted down to the Souton Mall, about an hour away from Babylon. While there, they run into Boris and Natasha Saul and Tasha, who were visiting their archpriest. The couple mentions that Saul is interested in becoming a priest and Tasha, his priest-wife… which leads to snide comments against the Catholic Church. Will Iimi be able to show that the Catholic perspective is a way to… Renounce All to Gain Everything

Pre-Comic Notes: This comic was constructed the week before Christmas, so it’s shorter. God Willing, we’ll see you in 2025.

Post-Comic Notes:

I was surprised by the “bi-vocational” nature of certain married priests of Eastern Orthodox churches in America. Some smaller communities can’t afford to support a priest and family. There are seven million Orthodox people in the United States and an estimated 390,000 live in California.

It’s Iimi! Flurry Road

Kismetta’s father will be joining Kismetta for Mass on Christmas Day. Meanwhile, Anthony has invited Della to attend religious services at the notorious Emmanuel Episcopalian church. Given the separation between Islam and Episcopalianism with Catholicism, it leaves one wondering. Will this issue be like a warm, old-fashioned Christmas movie? Or will it be more like Mad Max… Flurry Road

Pre-Comic Notes:

If you’re not up on movies, the issue title is a play on words with Mad Max: Fury Road.

Post-Comic Notes:

A more in-depth explanation of the requirements for mixed marriage can be found HERE. You may have noticed that Catholicism and Islam have similar requirements for attending services for another religion. That doesn’t mean they hold the same views on everything. It means both believe they are true and do not want members to put their beliefs at risk.

Of course, as a Catholic, I believe the Catholic beliefs to be true. But I think it would be dishonest to misrepresent Islam to make Christianity look better. So, I’ve done my best to portray Islam accurately.

In case it confuses anyone, I’d like to make a point about Rev. Zoe Wood’s sermon. Della is not offended by the concept of social justice (she supports the Catholic version). But she is offended by Rev. Zoe Wood hijacking and replacing Christian teaching to push an agenda.

It’s Iimi! The Crossroads

The school year winds down, and things seem to be slowing. That doesn’t mean everything is easy. For some, the direction they must walk is at… The Crossroads
